Nicholas J. Toman, CFP®
Retirement Planner and Investment Advisor Representative
Nick is an experienced Retirement Planner and Investment Advisor Representative with Empowered Financial Management. He works directly with retirees and pre-retirees to design individualized retirement plans through the Empowered Solution process, using the Six Pillars of Retirement. He works with those who aspire to work toward financial independence and a work-optional lifestyle.
Nick has been working in the financial services industry for over 26 years. After witnessing many friends and family negatively impacted by the recession of 2008-09, Nick decided to focus his career efforts on helping families better understand and strategically plan for retirement. He witnessed many close friends and family not have a strong financial plan in place during this recession, and ultimately they lost their financial freedom and desired retirement that they worked extremely hard for over several decades.
Nick is most proud to have passed the Series 65 securities exam and serve as a fiduciary because it lines up directly with his personal values and ethics. As a fiduciary, Nick is required to act in a client’s best interests.
Nick grew up in Milwaukee but has been a Madisonian for the past 22 years. Nick received his accounting degree from UW-Whitewater in 1991 and obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in 2013.
Nick and his wife, Christine, have been married for more than 20 years and have two outstanding kids: Jake, who attends Loras College and plays basketball at the university, and Sydney, who attends Verona Area High School and plays basketball and softball. Nick loves to support his kids in their athletics and has even coached a variety of youth sports over the past 15 years, including youth basketball (boys and girls), youth football, Little League baseball (West Madison Little League), AAU basketball and girls fastpitch softball. In his free time, Nick enjoys playing golf and watching the Brewers.
